If you ever find yourself roaming Alaska in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley you will find yourself surrounded by beautiful, treacherous mountains in every direction. Hatcher Pass lies north of Alaska, and on a clear day, you can see a route through the mountains, past Independence Mine, snowy summits, brandy sippers and hot chocolate bunnies.

This website, however, is our world-wide connection to you - the reader and hopefully listener of this fine world of music that we are involved in. Hatcher Pass Agency is ran by musicians for fellow musicians and was started around 2003 by Matt Hopper.

Our mission is to represent the artists we work with a sense of pride, thoroughness and organization. We seek out solutions to touring the United States of America, primarily on the western side, with forways into the midwest and east coast of the country.

Our artists help each other out. They look out for each other. They figure out solutions together. We are all in this to have a good time and do something worthwhile with our lives and something we love to do. We exist to provide a path and a helping hand through the "mountains" that exist in the musical world.

Hopper, melding a degree in Business Management with a troubadour lifestyle, not only writes, records and performs live as part of the label with The Roman Candles, but helps oversee a tight knit network of talented artists in the Alaska, Idaho, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, California, and Hawaii regions of the USA.

Hopper's current goals include re-launching the record label arm, Hatcher Pass Records, as a non-profit label with a small board of directors, a staff, and a budget funded from grants, tax writeoff donations, and every artist committed to the label's overall goals.

In 2010, Evan Phillips was hired on as the first official agent for the label. Phillips, of Anchorage's alt-country powerhouse The Whipsaws, was out of work due to a painful climbing injury and after having many conversations with Hopper, it was decided that something he COULD do easily would be to take over Agent duties on behalf of Hopper and the entire roster.
